Beginning the new year with a powerful bang, Proportion starts 2023 with an EP from label head, Dmitry Molosh as he introduces his “Shining / Watercolor” EP.
A leading figure in the underground dance scene and progressive house fraternity, Dmitry Molosh has seen a stratospheric rise to prominence over a stellar career that dates back more than a decade. Since a 2011 debut on You So Fat Records, over 600 production credits have found their way onto the finest independent dance labels as the Belarusian has seen his distinctive blend of mesmerising rhythms and unforgettable melodies create energy and emotion across global dancefloors. Work signed to Cid Inc.’s Replug, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank have lit up clubs along with a host of music for the likes of Proton Music, Deepwibe Underground and the iconic Afterglow Records.
With such an impressive portfolio on a plethora of prominent imprints, it is no surprise to see Dmitry’s music omnipresent in the sets of leading DJs with support coming from such respected figures as Nick Warren, Guy J, Khen, Eric Prydz and Max Graham. The result is an artist whose work transcends the borders of his homeland with a global reach and iconic status.
Returning to Proportion after January 2022’s eponymous debut and May’s ‘Small Wonders’ with Dutch master, Navar, Dmitry Molosh opens 2023 with the spellbinding ‘Shining’. Redolent in trademark rhythmic vibrancy, a rolling percussive groove and syncopated bassline provide the perfect foundation for a delicious combination of melodic elements to combine in sparkling fashion. Textured pads, delicate arpeggios and delay-infused lead blend together to create a magical sonic picture. Emotion is aroused by sublime key changes plus spine-tingling and white-noise-infused breakdown that provides a perfect pause for breath before dropping back into the rhythmic intricacy and melodic dynamism that waxes and wanes with ease.
Powered by a chest-thumping kick and ticking offbeat hi-hats, ‘Watercolour’ paints a spectacular picture with foundations built upon an imaginative bassline sequence and bright synth counterpoint. Gradually opening up with filtered energy and pitched dual-oscillator brio at the breakdown, its ever-present characteristic sees a track rich in texture with a fiery club-friendly vibe that will appeal to the worldwide DJ elite.
