As the rhythms of electronic music evolve, only a few have managed to leave an indelible mark on its tapestry. One such stalwart is Nick Curly, the co-founder of the illustrious Cecille Records, and he’s back in the spotlight, marking a significant milestone for the label.
Known for his multi-faceted approach to the electronic music scene – from running his renowned imprint 8Bit to curating the captivating ‘Trust’ events that have graced stages from Sonus Festival to Berlin’s Watergate – Nick Curly’s dedication to the craft is undeniable. Now, in celebration of Cecille Records’ 50th release, Curly has unveiled the ‘Altrip’ EP, a reflection of his deep-rooted connection to innovative sounds and the label’s unwavering commitment to quality.
The EP is an eclectic blend of energies. The title track, ‘Altrip’, ushers listeners in with its chunky sub-bass, further accentuated by its assertive drum programming. ‘It’s You And Me’ maintains the EP’s relentless momentum with its rolling note arpeggios and dynamic percussion. Not to be overshadowed, Manda Moor, the artist famed for her Paradise residency and top-charting Hot Creations ‘Picante’ EP, provides a stellar ‘Burning Remix’ of ‘Altrip’. Her rendition is infused with rave-inspired stabs, resonating pan drums, and meticulously diced vocal samples, adding a fresh layer of excitement to the track.
But the celebrations don’t end there. As the year progresses, Cecille Records is set to rekindle its event series in a partnership with Peoples Agency. Two landmark dates are already on the horizon. The roster for these events reads like a who’s who of electronic music, featuring artists like Sidney Charles, Manda Moor, Leon, Dennis Quin, Fabe, and many more. Fans can look forward to the beats echoing from a 2000-capacity tent owned by Groove Fest London and a spectacular night at ADE with promoter Hush, held at the iconic Melkweg Club in Amsterdam.
