Greta Levska has released a number of superb singles on this label in recent years and now steps up to curate the fantastic new Ibiza Get Physical. It showcases her forward-thinking style with 13 brand-new and exclusive tracks from a mix of exciting new names and more established artists across the house spectrum. Levska has a real affinity with Ibiza, having been a Monday resident for Amnesia Presents with Danny Howard and Gorgon City, as well as playing at Pyramid and Do Not Sleep. This is an authentic snapshot of the sound of the island as it is right now.
Her own ‘Amps On Route One’ kicks off with some tough electro rhythms and plenty of cyborg funk. Then comes Belgium-born and raised DJ and producer JoJo, known for an eclectic style and shows that with ‘Eclipse’, which starts off bright and evolves into a darker dance floor workout. Portugal’s Madd Rod, who runs the Inner Shah label and has also released on Discotexas, brings tense tech house with ‘Jumping Jacks’ and influential Spanish artist and Poker Fat associate Marcos In Dub ups the ante with wild synths and twisted electro. Hammer showcases his signature chugging disco sound on ‘Red Alert’ and OMRI. – a key player in his native Israel scene who has been for a decade – brings scintillating arps and disco tech on ‘This Is A Test’.
In the second half of the collection, there is futuristic electro-tech from Corbi, more deep-cut cosmic grooves from no_ip and searing electro rhythms from UK underground stalwart Last Magpie before a second superb cut from OMRI. that rides on rugged drums with serene synth drones up top. The final trio of tunes includes a lush and synth-heavy disco sound from Madd Rod, Stepco’s filtered robo-disco funk cut ‘Lovin’ It’ and a timeless electro closer from Trutopia that rides on cinematic synths and kinetic drums.
You can now listen to no_ip’s ‘Social Arcade’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
