With their latest release, Sequence Music aims to return to a time when one fell in love with a genre labelled Melodic Techno, a time when music was at its purist form…undiluted, euphoric, and hauntingly melancholic…words that wouldn’t necessarily describe the music today, until now! The label proudly presents ‘Celesta,’ a 3 track masterpiece from Swiss duo ENØS.
The EP showcases their signature sound: an evocative blend of deep basslines, intricate synth work, and immersive soundscapes. This three-tracker is a journey through the emotional and the ethereal, perfect for both the dancefloor and introspective listening.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Celesta’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
As a bonus, we had the chance to ask the duo a couple of questions about the release.
WWD: Congratulations on your upcoming EP ‘Celesta!’ Can you talk us through the EP, where you drew inspiration from and why you chose Sequence to release this with?
The three tracks are definitely inspired by our love of melodies in the first place. We also wanted to, maybe, take a step back, go back to our melodic techno old path and add some more modern sounds and here we are, ‘Celesta’ EP was born. We chose Sequence because we got along directly on the creative direction, path and we did really like their track selection.
WWD: Where was the EP made? Can you expand on some of the notable gear/plugins you used on this?
It was made between our little studio downtown Lausanne (CH) and our places also in Lausanne. Our creation process really works a little bit like a ping pong between these places and our minds. But to finalize the tracks, we always need to be together. We actually use very basic plug ins. Diva, Serum, Zebra, Nexus and few others. But to be honest, we are more pure music driven, too much technology can scare us (ahah).
WWD: Which other artists have had an influence on your sound? Both within electronic music and from different genres?
We have so many different influences: Nils Frahm, Kiasmos, Mind Against, KAS:ST… and other genres as well. Psyhedelic rock, old school rock – We really artist such as Tame Impala, The Temples but also Justice, Oasis.
WWD: Do you have any non-musical influences that help you get creative?
It is really difficult to define exactly where your inspiration come from. Living in Switzerland, being in the calmness of the mountains can definitely be inspiring. But sometimes a city, a club, our studio can very inspiring as well.
WWD: The melodic techno landscape and sound has changed quite significantly over the last year, what state is it in right now
Obviously it has grown enormously. It’s great for the genre, it became very popular. The thing is, it became more difficult for newcomers, talented producers, to stand out because you can easily be drowned in a big sea of producers, djs, etc.
