Island Hill was born on a stormy night on the volcanic island of Jeju, South Korea. As a typhoon swept through, locals gathered for impromptu “typhoon parties” – communal events where food, drink, and stories were shared to pass the time. It was at one of these gatherings that Albert, Barry, and Dibby met, bonding over vintage synths, blues guitar, and a mutual obsession with psychedelic, emotional electronic music. That night marked the beginning of a shared musical journey.

Their debut album, ‘Strangers In Paradise,’ released on John Digweed’s iconic Bedrock label, introduced Island Hill’s signature blend of cinematic synth work, Pacific-soaked guitar lines, and evocative lyricism. The record painted expansive, emotional soundscapes – a mix of analog warmth and electronic precision. Remixes from Red Axes and Digweed himself helped push the release to international audiences, earning critical support and a fast-growing fanbase.

Since then, Island Hill have continued to evolve their sound – immersive, genre-blurring, and deeply atmospheric. 2025 sees the trio expanding their creative reach with releases on Multinotes, Flores, Sanctuary, and more, while pushing deeper into collaborative territory. They’ve been working on new material with boundary-pushing artists such as Argia, Marc Gonen, Rigopolar, Panthera Krause, Phonique, Secret Factory, Komilev, and Of Norway – each collaboration adding new color and texture to their already rich sonic palette.

With recent guest DJ mixes for Transitions Radio and Dropsabanger, Island Hill have also showcased their curatorial side – offering listeners a glimpse into the influences, moods, and rhythms that shape their world.

Atmospheric, danceable, and emotionally resonant, Island Hill crafts music for both the introspective journey and the shared moment on the dancefloor. Island Hill continue to chart new territories, proving that their journey is just beginning.

“As ‘In My Mind’ makes its way into the world, we’re looking ahead to an inspiring run of releases. Collaborations with Marc Gonen, Rigopolar, Argia, Komilev, Secret Factory and more are in the works, and next up is our Multinotes EP, completed with a remix by the ever-brilliant Lehar.” – Island Hill

Island Hill bring their cinematic grooves and genre-blurring style to our Prima Lux mix series, delivering a lush and immersive set that captures the essence of their sonic world. The mix flows through atmospheric house, deep melodic cuts, and psychedelic textures—offering a seamless blend of moods and rhythms that mirror the trio’s own productions. With exclusive edits, unreleased collaborations, and handpicked gems, Island Hill’s Prima Lux is a reflective journey and an invitation to get lost in sound.

Meanwhile, Island Hill & Of Norway ‘In My Mind’ is out now on Flores. Buy / Stream Here
