Barberio is back on Melody Of the Soul, and this time he arrives with a full body of work that confirms just how naturally he moves between organic and progressive house. A DJ and producer whose sound leans on melodic textures and powerful kicks, he has a gift for pulling dancefloor dwellers straight into the heart of his productions. His latest EP, ‘He Walked Among Us’, is a four-track journey that shows real range, and two of its most striking moments come from his ongoing chemistry with Sri Lankan star Echo Daft.
Echo Daft has long been one of the most compelling voices to rise out of Sri Lanka’s underground scene. For him it is all about tapping into the mood, using deep hypnotic grooves and atmospheric vocals to get crowds moving. His music has travelled far beyond his home country and landed on respected labels such as Guy Mantzur’s PlattenBank and Dopamine Music, while his sets glide between progressive and breaks with a knack for lush soundscapes and haunting melodies.
The track we are premiering today, ‘Follow the Echo’, is one of those collaborations, and it captures everything that makes this pairing click. Warm, deep and hypnotic, it builds patiently around a rolling groove and tender vocal touches, the kind of record that feels just as at home under the early morning sun as it does deep into a club night.
