Body and Soul 2015 is just around the corner and with an such an impressive line-up on offer, thee whole WWD team are very excited! This week, we’ve decided to create a two part must see guide for the event, we’re talking essential preparation for any of you festival lovers out there. It’s all below, enjoy!
Must See!
1. Leftfield: An excellent headline act that has done it all and definitely one not too miss. Leftfield are veterans of the Dance scene backed with an expansive catalogue of songs that brought the underground scene into mainstream consciousness, Check out ‘Afro-Left’ ‘Phat Planet’ if unfamiliar. Tunes will vary in style and sound, sampling multiple genres which influenced some excellent productions over the last few decades. Guaranteed an energetic and nostalgic inducing set.
2. SOHN: One of my favourite producers to emerge over the last few years, a multitalented individual who continues to lead the post dubstep, ambient bass sound with the likes of James Blake. SOHN brings meaningful intricate lyrics to modern Electronic productions, check out the soulful ‘Lessons’ and ‘Lights’. Guaranteed, a soulful captivating sound, if the musicianship on show doesn’t impress, the bass surely will.
3. Nightmares on wax: NOW will be one of the highlights of the weekend, the versatility and creativity NOW has produced over the years is hugely impressive, he is accredited with playing a significant part in shaping the evolution of British underground music. His collection of records and his journey has seen him release classic techno hits, from ‘Aftermath’ and ‘I’m for real’ to producing classic downtempo hip hop albums in the form of ‘Smokers delight’ and ‘Carboot soul’. The sheer variety of genres this man has influenced and has been influenced by will make this an extremely versatile show, check out his boiler room set if in doubt. Guaranteed a well-crafted set, touching on Electronic, hip hop, jazz and Funk, definitely one for a music lover.
4. Talbomon: Whether John Talobot or Axel Bowman play some of their recent collaborations in the studio or go b2b with their own records, the crowd is in for a treat. Their first release as Talbomon ‘Sideral’ received an excellent review on RA, with a general atmospheric beautifully layered track. Both DJs have an eclectic array of tracks to choose from with John Talobot’s early LP ‘Fin’ accredited as one of the best records released in 2012 by electronic and other music publications. Alex Bowman has continued to build his reputation within the Swedish underground house movement becoming one of their most skilled exports. Early reviews of their shows suggest this is a duo with a collective sound which incorporates inventiveness, strives to capture the underground and brings moments of adrenaline filled moments of energy.
5. Fight Facilities: FF are a wonderfully fun and energetic duo to listen to, their sounds encapsulate the summer bringing synth and pulsing beats together with some excellent guest vocals. The duo take influence from acts, past and present, such as ELO, Jamiroquai, Daft Punk, Chic, Mylo and more, such influence is very noticeable within their excellent singles and remixes, check out ‘Down to Earth’ ‘With you’ ‘Crave You’. This set will be one of the liveliest of the weekend, guaranteed feel good mixing and positive vibes. A must see.

CLU: Inspired by 1980’s science fiction films, contemporary dance, 8 bit computer graphics and arcade sound tracks a la Streets of Rage. Clu works by fusing music and visual art together and concentrates on presenting these ideals to our audience.
Originally created by Sean Cooley and Kevin Freeney as a way to play music to their friends in nightclubs around Dublin, Clu has since progressed into experimenting with short film, contemporary art installations and audio mixes for meditation. Check out ‘Zenith’ and ‘Mirrors’
