WWD: Hey Mr. Milk Dee, great to meet you! What’s happening in your world at the moment?
Greetings everyone, I’m super excited for my first EP in 2025 through the big record label Bush Doctor Records. I’m also currently working on my upcoming album and to drop as much music as I can this year.
WWD: Congrats on the ‘See The World’ EP release. Can you talk us through the release?
Thank you, my EP has a mixture of Soul, Dance and Deep House vibes. I try to accommodate everyone in the Deep House space.
WWD: How did the collaboration with DeepCanic as a production team come about?
Oh, I’ve been working with DeepCanic for a decade now. It wasn’t hard for me to request a collaboration from him since we have been brothers for life. What I like about him is we have different styles of production. I knew adding him in my ep was gonna be worth it.
WWD: What was it that attracted you to Bush Doctor Records?
There is something special about Bush Doctor Records compared to other record labels. I had to opt for them immediately after my research. I love their marketing strategies, they make you feel at home, how they value us as family and they treat everyone equally.
WWD: For those who are just discovering your music, what do you hope they feel when they listen?
My music is catchy and personal. When it comes to chords and bassline progression, I make sure that whoever listens to them must definitely re-listen to the tracks. My style of music accommodates everyone in the Deep House space. My music has dance, soulful and deep house flavor in it and is good for long road trips.
WWD: Can you describe the connection between your music and your South African roots, and how they influence you today?
Truly speaking, my style of music it’s mostly inspired by international pioneers. I still have a lot to learn from our pioneers of house since I do music for the people. There are a few pioneers in deep house space that I do follow. They inspire me with new styles of music each time I hear their production.
WWD What’s been the highlight of your career so far? Any particular moment that stands out?
I can say dropping an album this year will be the biggest highlight of my career so far. My fans have been demanding an album for years now.
WWD: Can you share some insight into your creative process? Any rituals or methods that keep you inspired?
Before I go to my studio, I make sure that I listen to mostly RnB of any genre to motivate me, it has good chord progressions.
WWD: As someone deeply involved in the South African house music scene, how do you see it right now?
So far it has grown, though we still don’t have any pioneers that are not creative when it comes to production. Mostly they do not even know on which style their music falls in.
WWD: We’re sure that will change soon! Thanks for the chat 🙂
