There is a startling amount going on this Bank Holiday Sunday in Dublin, undoubtedly a reflection of the depth of quality promoters currently keeping the capital rocking. One event in particular has caught our eye. We’re fans of a little variety at WWD and this lineup certainly achieves that. Promoters Residence have brought together the deep grooves of Exploited boys Adana Twins with the renowned Cadenza man Argy. A tasty combination no doubt.
Adana Twins much like many of their Exploited counterparts have enjoyed an outstanding year. Their cheeky sampling of Notorious BIG resulted in the suprise hit Juicy Fruit while paving the way for the release of their most poignant record so far the anthemic ‘Everyday’. These gents are specialists of the deep and groovy – anyone who witnessed Claptone destroy Lost Society on Paddys Day will relish the familiar vibe. Their first Irish date (that we know of) and an opportunity to show why they’ve made so many big strides this year. Must see.
The headliner for this one is one of the most talented men to arrive on our shores this year. His initial breakthrough with ‘Love Dose’ made the Greek one of the most exciting names in underground music before he’d even outgrown his teen years. It was however his remix of Osunalde – Envision which announced him on a bigger stage as a name to be reckoned with. Following up with a stream of succesful releases on everything from Cocoon to Defected, (his remix of Rampa – Everyday was a WWD favourite) Argy is a welcome visitor to our isle this weekend. If his latest Vagabundos compilation is anything to go by this will be an incredibly exciting affair.
All in all a formidable Sunday night especially considering the smattering of local talent on the lineup (David De Valera, Gavin Kenny, Def Disko and Marcus ) as well as Maltese stalwarts The Town.
Tickets for this one are via RA: Argy & Adana Twins @ Residence
