Time Warp came back to its spiritual home in Mannheim with a bang on April 1st. Four years away because of the pandemic, the world’s most renowned electronic music festival raised the bar with 20 000 visitors from all over the world dancing to the best DJs on the planet with some of the boldest and most adventurous production in the industry.
It all went down at Maimarkthalle, a huge fair hall that hosted its first Time Warp in 1995 and was a great home for this much-anticipated return. The festival took place over the two main floors as well as the Maimarkt-Club which was a third space, then the vast outdoor tents offered two more places to dance and a glass pavilion also provided some unforgettable scenes as the sun shone in through the windows.
Say the team, “We are very grateful that after a four-year break, we brought back the energy and the entire family with artists and fans from all over the world. We are happy that all our new floor designs worked out well and were much appreciated by fans and artists alike. We managed again to present a perfect symbiosis of materials, fabrics, light, sound and video.”
Amongst the many headliners were the likes of Sven Väth, The Blessed Madonna, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, Paula Temple, Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, Dixon, DJ Koze. Richie Hawtin also played and took to Instagram after the show to say, “Thank you @time_warp_official for another beautiful trip into the world of pulsating frequencies…..In a world where Techno is commonplace and known (but not understood) by everyone, it’s a pleasure to have an audience that is ready for a journey into the unknown. …..thank you to TIME WARP for giving us all a platform that allows us to all resonate together in the purest way!”
Forward-thinking music has always been at the heart of Time Warp and that was the case again this year. Keep your eyes peeled for news of the next event as the 30-year anniversary edition approaches in 2024.
