John Monkman is a studio guru with an unparalleled live performance. He is unquestionably one of the UK’s leading lights when it comes to supreme electronic music and his creations have been championed by the likes of Ellum founder Maceo Plex, Drumcode’s Adam Beyer and LNOE boss Sasha over the last two years. After kicking off 2018 with the Solomun and Sasha approved Massai’ EP on his own imprint, Monkman delivered a scintillating live show on April 21st at California’s renowned Coachella festival. The Summer saw killer releases in ‘Ketosis’ and Anjunadeep gem ‘Magnolia’ as well as a new chapter in his on-going collaboration with Pete Tong titled ‘Placebo’. Closing out 2018 he made his debut appearance on Maceo Plex’s Ellum imprint with a cutting-edge two tracker in the form of the ‘Tune In Turn On’, a release which saw support from Beyer, Kolsch, Patrice Baumel and more.
Early 2019 saw a return to the prestigious Kompakt for the relentless ‘Pesto Punk’ in collaboration with James Monro, followed by a Drumcode debut in remixing the label boss. He has continued a triumphant year with a masterful new three track release on Anjunadeep titled ‘Komplex’. The title track offers up yet another engrossing dancefloor focused experience, while ‘Mirrors’ with Liz Cass is an emotive vocal weapon. Closing out the EP is a sublime slice of electronica called ‘In Between’.
